I recently got a bunch of my film from last year developed (a bunch being like 5 rolls – not much in film terms. :P) and all the food photos on it reminded me that I still had old Food on Film images that I wanted to post. Actually seeing the newly developed photos compared to these first attempts at photographing with film make me see how much I learned in that time. I used several different films in that last round, and it’s been so interesting to see how different films behave in similar situations.

I actually don’t really like how the warmth of this particular film stock (Portra 400) mutes the vibrancy of the flowers. I’m told that overexposing this film would get rid of some of that yellow cast, but I have yet to try it. So many film stocks. So little time.
NOTE: I don’t edit film photos. They will always be straight scans of the negative. With digital images I usually adjust the contrast and sometimes the exposure, but that’s it. I don’t touch the colors.
